Baking Soda and Vinegar Experiment
Kids love watching the stars that are stacked up fall and morph into each other. I suggest either buiding towers before activating the science part of thebaking soda and vinegar reaction or having multi colored stars on your platter.

The stars will bubble, fizz, and seem to burst just like the song. Okay, not exactly, in the Star Spangeled Banner the bombs burst in the air, but kids will get the connection. Maybe sing the song together as you try this experiment.
4th of July Fun
The colors are so pretty bubbling and fizzing all over each other. It is a big pan of patriotic color science fun! We choose to just do red, but you could do different colors. We liked how the red and white colors popped out of the star.
Another option is to color the stars when you are mixing the baking soda, water, dish soap, and sequens. Then children use the same clear vinegar to activate all colored stars for a colorful interaction.

So, what is happening in this chemistry experiment for kids? In these patriotic science experiments we combined baking soda (base) and vinegar (acid) to make a chemical reaction.
